Grow your own Catherine-Wheel Pincushion with this easy seed kit. Leucospermum catherinae, commonly known as the Catherine Wheel Pincushion, is a striking fynbos plant admired for its vibrant flowers and bold garden presence.
This species forms a rounded, spreading shrub that grows to around 1.5 metres in height with a spread of up to 2 metres. It is a strong grower and a rewarding addition to indigenous gardens, bringing colour and structure to fynbos landscapes.
The flowers appear in summer and range in colour from shades of red and orange to bright yellow, creating a vibrant display. Their distinctive pincushion shape also makes them highly prized as long lasting cut flowers for floral arrangements.
The pack contains five Leucospermum catherinae seeds, along with Cape Seed Smoke Primer to help trigger germination by mimicking the natural post fire conditions of the fynbos ecosystem. It is packaged in a self sealing cellophane sleeve, making it easy to send as a thoughtful gardening gift.
