Grow the striking Crane Flower from seed with this easy starter pack. Strelitzia juncea is one of South Africa’s most distinctive ornamental plants, admired for its unusual form and dramatic flowers.

This plant grows to around 1–2 metres tall and forms clumps of long, upright, needle-like leaves that create a strong architectural feature in the garden. The flowers are a dramatic combination of blue, purple and orange, shaped like the head of a bird, which gives the plant its common name, Crane Flower. While the leaves differ from the well-known Strelitzia reginae, the flowers are very similar.

Flowering from late autumn through to mid-spring, these long-lived plants reward patient gardeners with spectacular blooms that are also excellent long lasting cut flowers.

The pack contains two Strelitzia juncea seeds, along with Cape Seed Smoke Primer to enhance germination. It is packaged in a self-sealing cellophane sleeve, making it easy to send as a thoughtful gardening gift.
