Scientific Name: Geoppertia Vittata
Synonyms: Calathea White Star, Zebra Calathea
- Striking pinstriped patterned foliage
- Will add a splash of interest to your plant collection
- Can grow large in the right conditions
- Plant Level: Intermediate
The Calathea Vittata, also known as the Zebra Calathea,is a truly eye-catching specimen with beautifully distinct white and green striping. Like all Calathea, these fascinating plants are super noteworthy and a fabulous statement plant.
They love high humidity and medium to bright filtered light to thrive, as well as consistently moist soil that doesn't stay soggy nor dries out. So be prepared; they can be a bit diva-ish if not treated with attention.
They make for fabulous accent pieces in a brightly lit bathroom or kitchen where humidity is naturally higher, though they will happily live in any general living space as long as humidity is provided to them.
Pair the gorgeous plant with a modern planter for something sleek, and use it as a tabletop feature or bookshelf stunner. Whichever spot you choose, these plants will captivate you.
Please note: Calathea are safe for children and pets, but prefer not to be eaten as it'll make them look less than the best.
